Winter Storm Update Saturday, January 18, 2020

Categories: Garbage & Recycling, Streets & Sanitation

The Department of Public Works (DPW) employees have been salting and plowing since Friday evening. Drivers focused on the main roads until around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Due to the long duration of the storm, drivers made passes through the neighborhoods streets during the overnight hours.

Plows then were directed back to main roads before the morning traffic started.

DPW employees will be focusing on cleaning up the neighborhood roads this afternoon and into the evening. There will be a shift change at 11:30 p.m. and the neighborhood clean-up will continue until Sunday morning.

End loader tractors were dispatched at 6:00 a.m. and are working on cleaning up the dead ends and cul du sacs.

Please remember to follow the Winter Parking Rules:

On odd-numbered days:

Between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m., vehicles shall only be parked on that side of the street having odd-numbered street addresses. (East and South Sides)

On even-numbered days:

Between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m., vehicles shall only be parked on that side of the street having even-numbered street addresses. (North and West Sides)

Streets posted with “No Parking” restrictions shall remain in effect; therefore are NOT under alternate side parking rules.

Please follow the simple rule: PARK FOR TOMORROW

The DPW requests that residents continue to clear a spot for their garbage and recycling bags. It is prohibited to place the garbage and recycling bags on snow banks for collection.

The DPW appreciates your patience as the drivers work to clear the over 200 miles of streets.
