Snow Emergency Parking Rules

A snow emergency can be declared between November 1 to April 30.

Parking of vehicles on designated snow emergency routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs, and dead-end streets is completely prohibited during the period of a snow emergency. Vehicles can only return to the aforementioned streets after the City of Sheboygan announces the end to snow emergency operations.

Vehicles illegally parked will be ticketed and towed.

When a snow emergency exists, vehicles parking on non-snow emergency routes between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. shall only park on the even sides of the streets (North and West sides) on even days.

When a snow emergency exists, vehicles parking on non-snow emergency routes between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. shall only park on the odd sides of the streets (South and East sides) on odd days.

All streets with “No Parking” restrictions relating to parking on one side of the street shall follow odd/even parking rules during a snow emergency.

►In the event of a snow emergency, information will be communicated through the following media outlets: sheboygandpw.com, sheboyganwi.gov, nextdoor.com, twitter.com/SheboyganDPW, facebook.com/SheboyganDPW, WHBL 1330 AM, WBFM 93.7, WHBZ 106.5, WXER 96.1, WITI Fox6, WISN 12, WTMJ 4, AM 920 THE WOLF, FM 106.1, NEWSTALK 1130 WISN, V100.7 JAM, OLIDES 95.7, and 97.3 Radio.

Safe Winter Driving

  • Reduce your rate of speed when driving in less than ideal conditions
  • Increase your following distance on wet and snow-covered roads
  • When driving in precipitation please put on your headlights
  • Please stay back a minimum of 75 feet from DPW snow and plow trucks
  • If you do not have to be somewhere, watch the snow fall from the indoors

Vehicle Towing

If your vehicle has been towed due to being improperly parked, the vehicle owner will need to go to the Sheboygan Police Department (1315 N. 23rd Street, Sheboygan) to pay the parking ticket. After paying the parking ticket, the vehicle owner will be notified which towing company has their vehicle, they may then proceed to the tow company site and retrieve their vehicle.

Sub. of Gen. Ord. No. 25-17-18 was approved on August 20, 2018. An ordinance amending the city’s snow emergency and winter parking to improve efficiency in clearing streets all winter, given reductions in personnel and changes in procedures. Click HERE for more info.
